The Story of Rod

Rod was on my travel hockey team and went to my rival high school. He was a senior when I was a sophomore. Great kid.. never really lost his temper or make more bad decisions then the regular teenager. It was his senior prom. His girlfriend and him got into a fight as most relationships do.

However, because this fight happened on the night of prom, they were both drunk. The girlfriend went home from the after prom fiesta and Rod decided to stay and drink with his friends. Obviously that didn't stop them from talking via text messages.

After they had "made-up" via texts, everyone was already passed out from the party and it was extremely late. But because of the puppy love he wanted to see her.. On the way their he skidded off the road and into a light pole.. Do you think about how many people would be effected if something were to happen to you if you drink and drive, let alone anyone who knows the possible other person who is killed that has nothing to do with the criminal activities?

My entire high school was effected... There were grief counselors at my school for 2 weeks and he didn't even go to my school. Everyone I knew was caught entirely off guard by this awful incident. So please... next time you think to yourself or are in a situation anything like that... please remember Rod's story, so that you don't make the same mistake he did.
